ENVIRONMENTAL GUARD IN 2016…

When the project began with the Environmental Guard, an institution was found with desires and dreams that were not developed, which from their possibilities were looking for ways to achieve them.

We wanted to reach communities and people who, due to the structural and resource conditions, were not able to educate and train Environmental Guards. For example, it was very difficult to educate and train young people in cities far from Cartagena or in other departments.

For this reason it was important to make use of technological tools that would facilitate this purpose.

WHAT WE ACHIEVE WITH SJRK

We want to tell you the most important thing we have built together with the SJRK project team:

First, we created the web page http://guardiaambiental.org/ with custom visualization tools that have allowed us to show what we do in a digital range with more influence and for all people, being an accessible page.

The introduction of technological tools such as the MOOC and the visualization of environmental data of the city of Cartagena on the website has allowed us to expand the number of young people interested and trained as Environmental Guards who are providing management in the recovery of their environment.

The production of videos in Cuentalo, a very rewarding experience, by which we got to know stories and experiences of our young people who for many years were developing environmental guard activities, but we did not know why they were interested and, beyond that, all the social and family conditions to which they had been exposed.

The inclusion workshops, which taught us how we can make it easier for all people, including those with disabilities, to develop activities that recover and conserve the environment.

The internationalization of the Environmental Guard, through the visibility of the activities of the Guard in social media, the exchange of ideas and experiences with countries such as Italy, Brazil, Mexico, international visits to OCAD University in Toronto, by the Director Roberto Ruiz and the General Coordinator of Volunteers Elbert Rocha and the planning of a project to establish the Environmental Guard in Canada.
